Putin sets strategic development goals

MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has identified "doubling Russia's GDP, overcoming poverty, and modernizing the armed forces" as the key strategic goals to ensure the country's development.

"Each of these three goals are crucial and directly interconnected," Putin said at a meeting with the top officials from the Federal Assembly (parliament), the government, the presidium of the State Council, and the leaders of parliamentary factions and major non-government organizations in the Kremlin on Friday.
