Russian Air Force destroying guerilla's facilities in Chechnya

KHANKALA. July 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Aviation of the Russian federal forces has destroyed a guerilla's large-scale base and two relays in Chechnya in the past 24 hours, a source in the Combined Federal Force HQ in the North Caucasus told Interfax- Military News Agency on Monday.

Bombers SU-24 Fencer and attack planes SU-25 Frogfoot have made 10 combat sorties, and MI-8 Hip and MI-24 Hind helicopters over 40 flights in the past 24 hours. According to preliminary data, a large-scale base and two relays were destroyed during these operations, the source said.

Aviation engaged the aimed targets only far from communities, in mountains and forests, he noted.

SU-24 and SU-25 aircraft made more than 10 combat flights, MI-8, MI-24 and MI-26 Halo helicopters made over 450 sorties the last week.

The source noted that aviation was involved in combat actions for special purpose - pre-emptive hitting to destroy guerilla formations in mountain and forest lands in Chechnya.
