MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Chairman of the Russian Committee for Military-Technical Cooperation with Foreign States Mikhail Dmitriyev on Thursday handed over certificates for independent conduction of foreign economic activity regarding military-purpose products to the Aerokosmicheskoye Oborudovaniye corporation and Admiralteiskiye Verfi state-owned enterprise, both based in St. Petersburg.
"The right given to the enterprise refers to the supplies of spare parts, components, training and auxiliary equipment for earlier exported military-purpose products, as well as to repairs and technical servicing of the equipment," the committee's press service told Interfax-Military News Agency.
According to it, the companies have been added to the list of organizations having the right to conduct independent foreign economic activity regarding military-purpose products. The list currently contains 13 enterprises: Admiralteiskiye Verfi, Aerokosmicheskoye Oborudovaniye, Omsk-based Baranov engine- building association, Urals optical and mechanical plant based in Yekaterinburg, Uralvagonzavod production association based in Nizhny Tagil, Zvyozdochka state-owned unitary enterprise based in Severodvinsk, Bazalt state-owned research and production enterprise based in Moscow, Pribor federal research and production center, Salyut machine-building association based in Moscow, Rubin naval hardware design bureau, Sukhoi military aircraft corporation, Splav state-owned research and production enterprise based in Tula, and Kvant production association based in Veliky Novgorod.
President Vladimir Putin signed an instruction on September 16, 2002, authorizing the committee to grant enterprises the right to export spare parts, conduct technical servicing and repair military-purpose products. This was done to speed up implementation of contracts in the sphere of foreign trade and to respond quicker to requests of partners in military-technical cooperation.
