SOLNECHNOGORSK, Moscow Region. July 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Over 20 officials of nine foreign nations completed training at the UN military observers and civil police officers courses in Solnechnogorsk on Friday.
"The training of UN military observers and civil police officers for the nations that are sending their military and police personnel for participating in UN peacekeeping operations for the first time started at the Vystrel training center of the Russian Armed Forces Joint Arms Academy on June 30 and ended today, on July 18," a spokesman for the courses command told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"Salvador, Rwanda, Yemen, and Moldova were represented at the courses by four persons each, Croatia, Kazakhstan, and Serbia and Montenegro by two persons each, and Mongolia by one person," the spokesman said.
In addition, 12 officers of the Russian Armed Forces and five officials of the Interior Ministry attended the courses.
In accordance with the UN Secretariat's decisions, the training of future UN military observers and civil police officers involved international instructors from Hungary, India, Malaysia and Russia.
"The next international courses for specialists of UN missions in trouble spots will be held in India in autumn this year," the spokesman said.
Vystrel courses have been training UN field and staff officers since 1974. Since 1996 the center has been training servicemen from Great Britain, Denmark, Canada, Nigeria, Norway, the U.S., Sweden, and Germany together with Russian officers.
Police and border guard officers have been trained in the Interior Ministry Center since 1991.
