MOSCOW. July 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Motorized rifle and tank units will start a practice in controlling BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles afloat and in crossing streams on T-80 tanks at the Alabino training ground in the Moscow region on Wednesday, Colonel Vitaly Gusak, press service chief of the Moscow military district, told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"Units of the Guard Taman motorized rifle division will be the first to accomplish training missions at the training ground. They will be succeeded by units of the Kantemirov tank division. The goal of the practice is to improve organizer skills of unit commanders in managing the rescue and evacuation service in the stream crossing area as well as skills of armored vehicle crews in crossing streams underwater and afloat," Gusak said.
Motorized rifle units will rehearse preparation of vehicles for stream crossing afloat, actions of BMP-2 crews if their vehicle is flooded, and first aid provision. Tank units will rehearse preparation of tanks for stream crossing underwater and daytime underwater driving.
