DUSHANBE. July 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Afghan Defense Minister Mohammad Fahim Khan is in Dushanbe to discuss the possibility of training officers for the Afghan army in Tajik higher military educational establishments with the help of Russian experts, a military diplomat in Dushanbe told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
"The Afghan military delegation consisting of 10 generals led by Marshal Khan arrived in Dushanbe on Thursday and has already met with the Tajik defense minister. In the near future, it will hold talks with the command of the 201st Russian division stationed in this country," the diplomat said.
According to him, "Marshal Khan is very interested in involving 201st division officers in the training of officers for the Afghan army that is to take place in Tajik higher military educational establishments."
Regional security, military-technical cooperation, and measures against drug smuggling are among other themes addressed by Khan at the talks in Dushanbe, the diplomat said.
In addition to being the Afghan defense minister, Khan is the first deputy of President Hamid Karzai and chief of the presidential administration.
