GROZNY. July 28 (Interfax-South) - Sapper teams and local police defused a powerful landmine discovered in Grozny's Leninsky district on Monday morning.
Sources in the Leninsky district police department told Interfax that the home-made explosive device, which was made from an artillery shell and filled with TNT and pieces of metal, was planted near the junction of Lenin and Dzerzhinsky Streets.
Traffic through this part of the city was halted during the defusing operation.
In a separate incident a month ago, a landmine went off at the same place, injuring several Chechen Interior Ministry officials.
