MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax-AVN) - A fire that broke out in a garage belonging to an airborne regiment in Kubinka in the Moscow region was caused by a short circuit.
A source on the Airborne Staff told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday "a fire erupted in one of the garages of the 45th Detached Reconnaissance Regiment, deployed in Kubinka, at 2:30 a.m. Moscow time on Tuesday (2230 GMT on Monday). A short circuit is considered as the most likely cause. The fire was extinguished by a duty officer and fire-fighting units within several hours. It destroyed four trucks," he added.
The source said that none of the servicemen or firefighters were hurt.
"An Airborne Staff commission, led by chief-of-staff of the Airborne Troops logistics support department Colonel Pavel Ovchinnikov, is working at the scene of the fire. Airborne Troops Commander Georgy Shpak, who visited the site earlier today, praised the resolute actions of the regiment's personnel and assessed the damage caused by the fire as insignificant," the source noted.
