KOVROV, Vladimir Region. July 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Kovrov plant, which specializes in the production of small arms, cannons, missile armament, and equipment for the nuclear industry, boosted its sales 2.1 times in the first half of 2003, the plant's press service reported on Tuesday.
The plant's output nearly doubled against figures of the second half of 2002, productivity grew by 1.8 times, and average wages doubled to RUB7,177 (USD237.3) a month. Profits for six months are expected to amount to RUB515m (USD17.03m), and balance profits for five months to RUB368.8m (USD12.19m). Sales revenues amount to RUB632.8m (USD20.92m).
According to the press service, the plant paid taxes totaling RUB191.4m (USD6.33m) to budgets of all levels and extra- budget funds in the first half of the year. The figure includes RUB135m (USD4.46m) paid to the federal budget, RUB19.8m (USD654,630) to the regional budget, and RUB19.2m (USD634,740) to the local budget. Allocations to the road fund amounted to RUB16.9m (USD558,750), and over RUB500,000 (USD16,530) was spent on charity.
The plant has no debts to the budget or extra-budget funds, the press service said. Current payments are made on time and in full volume.
The Degtyarev plant is the biggest defense industry enterprise in the Vladimir region. In particular, it manufactures the 12.7-mm Kord machine-gun, the 30-mm GSh-30 two-barrel cannon, the 3UBK20 round with the 9M119M missile, the Igla-S man-portable anti-aircraft missile system, various equipment for the atomic energy industry, motorbikes, batteries, etc.
