MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax-AVN) - President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that "the overhaul of the structure of security agencies has been completed and no additional changes are required."
At a meeting with senior military officials in the Kremlin, Putin underscored the need "to stop all the talking. The only thing that matters now is to ensure effective operations."
The president noted that "the next few years will be crucial for the army." Among the government's top priorities, he mentioned re-equipping the Armed Forces and enhancing the capabilities of permanent alert units. "Bringing more qualified officers into the army" is equally important, he added.
Putin also praised the performance of Russia's army and navy in major training exercises, including international ones. He said the Armed Forces have "a large potential - both personnel and technical." The president noted that this potential provides a sound framework for successful military reform.
