Land Forces air defense holding competition among battalion commanders

MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Commanders of air defense battalions armed with Tunguska and Shilka systems have started a competition at the 726th training center in the town of Yeisk in the Krasnodar territory, the Land Forces press service said on Tuesday.

"The 726th training center of the Land Forces in Yeisk is hosting a competition in field skills that involves commanders of air defense battalions of motorized rifle and tank regiments armed with Tunguska and Shilka systems. The competition is to end on Friday," a press service official told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The competition focuses on the commanders' tactical skills and their ability to manage crews of their battalions competently in fighting the aerial enemy," the official said.

The Land Forces air defense summed up results of the previous competition on Tuesday, he added. That competition involved commanders of S-300 and Buk-M1 air defense missile systems. Officers of the Leningrad and Volga-Ural military district had the best results.
