MOSCOW. July 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's military command considers it unethical to hold festivities timed to Airborne Force Day at Moscow's Tushino airfield, where a terrorist act was committed less than a month ago, the Defense Ministry press service said on Thursday.
"The Defense Ministry's leaders decided that it will be unethical to hold paramilitary festivities on the scene of the recent tragedy in Tushino, where people died less than a month ago," a press service official told Interfax-Military News Agency.
A solemn meeting and concert will take place at the Kremlin Palace of Congress on Airborne Force Day, which is celebrated on August 2. In addition, military sports competitions will be held in airborne units. "Thus, paratroopers will be able to celebrate their holiday in a proper way," the official said.
The Armed Forces will also celebrate Logistics Support Day on August 1. In particular, a logistics support unit reporting to the Defense Ministry's central administration and stationed in the town of Yegoryevsk in the Moscow region will host the oath- taking of raw recruits. All other logistics support units will arrange personnel parades and hand over awards to the most distinguished servicemen, the official noted.
