Russian Armed Forces chief-of-staff about to end trip to Volga- Ural military district

YEKATERINBURG. July 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Chief-of-Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Anatoly Kvashnin rounds up an inspection trop to garrisons of the Volga-Ural military district on Thursday, chief of the district's press service Konstantin Lazutkin told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The chief-of-staff visited the Yekaterinburg Artillery Institute and Suvorov Military College on Thursday. After that he summed up results of his inspection trip to Volga-Ural military district units at the district headquarters. The chief-of-staff is currently meeting with Sverdlovsk region Governor Eduard Rossel. He is expected to fly from Yekaterinburg to Moscow tonight," Lazutkin said.

Kvashnin is leading a group of generals and officers of the Defense Ministry central administration who are checking combat readiness in Volga-Ural military district units from Monday to Thursday. During the trip, he visited Orenburg to inspect several military units, including a missile unit, a military transportation unit, and a radio intelligence unit. On Tuesday, he observed a command post exercise of the 506th guard motorized rifle regiment which is organic of the Totsk garrison stationed in the Orenburg region. In addition, he visited the Chaikovsky garrison in the Perm region and held classes for the district's top command in Yekaterinburg.
