Russian govt considers merging artillery manufacturers in one group

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Aug 4 (Interfax-AVN) - In the near future, the Russian government plans to settle the issue of forming the Artilleriiskiye Sistemy (artillery systems) integrated group that would bring together the defense industry facilities manufacturing artillery.

Deputy Prime Minister Boris Alyoshin announced on Monday that after this issue is discussed by the ministries involved, the plan to form the Artillery Systems will be submitted for consideration to the commission for military industrial issues.

Alyoshin visited the Nizhny Novgorod Engineering Plant on Monday. He found its involvement in the future integrated group unacceptable. "It already belongs to the air defense group (Almaz- Antei - Interfax). It would be ineffective to manage the facility from two places," he said.
