KHANKALA. Aug 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal forces have prevented a large-scale terrorist attack in Grozny's Leninsky district, Ilya Shabalkin, spokesman for the regional headquarters of the anti-guerilla operation in the North Caucasus, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.
He said sappers had discovered a home-made bomb consisting of a metal tube filled with explosives and metal objects on Mayakovsky Street.
The bomb was defused and destroyed in a safe area.
Mayakovsky Street is one of the city's busiest streets. Chechen officials travel to and from their offices along this street, Shabalkin said.
