"An operations team of the Federal Railway Forces Service led by Lieutenant General Yevgeny Kornishin, chief engineer and deputy commander of the forces, left for the Far East today to coordinate actions of the railway corps with the headquarters managing the Far Eastern exercise," Gurov told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Navy Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Kuroyedov, who will supervise the exercise, has approved the action plan for the 1st corps and the pattern of its interaction with the Far Eastern military district and the Pacific Fleet's coastal units "without making any complaints," Gurov said.
"The large-scale exercise will have several stages and cover a vast area in the Far East and adjacent seas. Units of the 1st corps under command of Lieutenant General Yuri Zuyev will be fully involved in the exercise. At initial training stages, Railway Forces units will practice interaction with branches of the Railway Ministry and Emergencies Ministry, as well as with units of the Far Eastern military district and coastal forces of the Pacific Fleet, during joint accomplishment of tactical missions," the general said.
The acting commander said the Railway Forces have performed over 20 command post exercises of various scale this year, practicing interaction with Defense Ministry units.
"In particular, the Railway Forces teamed up with the Armed Forces to participate in many exercises on the territories of the Moscow, Leningrad, Siberian, Far Eastern and other military districts. They accomplished the assigned missions quite successfully," Gurov concluded.
