RIGA. Aug 21 (Interfax/BNS) - Latvian security police and customs officials seized military equipment destined for Tehran, Iran, at the Riga airport on Tuesday night, a police official has told BNS.
The 28-tonne cargo declared as farming machinery worth LVL315,000 (USD546,120) turned out to be parts for tanks, night- vision instruments and spare parts for weapons systems, he said.
"Several offshore zones are involved," the official said.
The Latvian military counterintelligence service is investigating the incident.
Nobody has been detained yet in connection with the investigation.
