GROZNY. Aug 21 (Interfax-AVN) - A Ural truck carrying servicemen of the Vedeno district military commandant's office came under attack in Chechnya on Thursday.
The soldiers were en route to the scene of the murder of Tsa- Vedeno village administration head Supyan Yusupov.
Acting head of the Vedeno district administration Khanali Gagayev told Interfax that "from one to four servicemen of the infantry unit were killed as a result of the rebel attack. All of them were local residents. The truck was destroyed."
A civilian who was travelling in the truck was killed, as well.
Gagayev said that units of the military commandant's office, Vedeno police and the prosecutor's office are currently working at the scene of the attack.
He did not rule out that the incident might have been the work of rebels who managed to break through the encirclement near the village of Avtury in the Shali district. A search is in progress.
Meanwhile, Chechnya's Interior Ministry told Interfax that an official of the Vedeno district's military commandant's office was killed. Six servicemen from the infantry unit and two Vedeno policemen were injured as a result of the attack.
