VLADIVOSTOK. Aug 22 (Interfax-AVN) -- A South Korean destroyer will drop anchor at the berth of the Russian Pacific Fleet's main base in Vladivostok on Saturday, chief of the fleet's press service Colonel Alexander Kosolapov told Interfax- Military News Agency.
"This will be a business visit, the South Korean destroyer is arriving to take part in a rescue exercise in the sea. Provision of aid to a vessel in distress will be practiced during the exercise," Kosolapov said.
The commander of the South Korean Navy's 51st squadron will discuss details of the rescue operation plan and peculiarities of interaction in the sea at the exercise staff on Saturday, the press service chief noted.
The rescue exercise is an element of the large-scale command post exercise (CPX) that is underway in the Russian Far East and Pacific Fleet. The CPX involves various Russian law-enforcement agencies and navies of several nations of the region.
Military observers from Canada, South Korea and China arrived in Vladivostok on Friday, Kosolapov said.
