MOSCOW. Aug 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The Ulyanovsk automobile plant (UAZ) is exhibiting promising samples of dual-purpose cross- country vehicles at the Avtosalon 2003 international automobile show that us underway in Moscow.
"We have fully renewed the range of military and civilian off-roaders over the past few years. All novelties of our plant are exhibited at the automobile show," an official of the UAZ press service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.
Among the promising UAZ cross-country vehicles are the UAZ- 3159 Okhotnik off-roader derived from the Bars military vehicle, the UAZ-3163 cargo and passenger vehicle, the UAZ-23608 two- seater cargo pickup truck, the UAZ-23632 five-seater pickup truck with double cabin, and the UAZ-3165M all-wheel-drive minivan, the official said.
The UAZ-3159 Okhotnik is a derivative of the Bars with a broad wheelspan. Among its design peculiarities are the five- stage gearbox, Spicer-type axles with single-piece case, and rear line axle with an intermediate support.
"The vehicle is distinguished for advanced cross-country capability, stability, controllability and movement smoothness," the official said.
The UAZ-3163 cargo and passenger cross-country vehicle is distinguished for improved interior and exterior. It also has a five-stage gearbox and Spicer-type axles, moreover, its backdoor is broader, and it is different from the baseline variety in advanced controllability and stability.
The UAZ-23608 two-seater cargo pickup truck is a derivative of the UAZ-3162. According to the official, the truck is peculiar for having the ZMZ-5143.10 diesel engine of the Zavolzhsk machine- building truck and an extended wheelspan. The vehicle is distinguished for advanced cargo capacity, comfort and economical operation.
The UAZ-23632 five-seater pickup truck has a cargo compartment (open or closed) with hard top and drop backside, an expanded wheelspan and the ZMZ-409.10 engine with fuel injection.
The UAZ-3165M minivan is intended for seven to eight passengers. It has an all-metal body, all-round windows, and three rows of seats, the official said.
