Army units practice interaction with Interior Ministry Force, border guards in Chechnya

KHANKALA. Sept 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Units of the 42nd motorized rifle division stationed in Chechnya have practiced interaction with the Interior Ministry Force and border forces of the Federal Security Service (FSB), Colonel Igor Konashenkov, aide to the North Caucasus military district commander, said on Monday.

"The unit stationed in Chechnya on a permanent basis held a command post exercise (CPX) from August 25 to 29 under the supervision of North Caucasus Military District Deputy Commander Lieutenant General Alexei Belousov," Konashenkov told Interfax- Military News Agency.

"Participants in the maneuvers practiced interaction of army units with the Interior Ministry Force and border guard forces in accomplishing joint missions," the aide said. In addition, the exercise checked knowledge and skills of commanders of all levels in unit control and decision-making, he noted.

A regiment-level tactical exercise with live firing took place at a mountain proving range in Chechnya in the framework of the CPX, Konashenkov went on.

"An exercise of such a scale took place in Chechnya for the first time since the USSR collapsed," he stressed.

Belousov rated the performance of the participants in the exercise as good, the aide added.
