MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Two Russian spacecraft Mozhaets-4 and Larets have been delivered to the Plesetsk space centre.
"Mozhaets-4 and Larets satellites to launched into space with the help of the Kosmos-3M light carrier rocket on September 26 have been delivered to the Plesetsk space centre," the Space Forces press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
Both spacecraft have been delivered by a special flight from Omsk, where they were manufactured at the Polet enterprise.
"According to the Space Forces command post experts, both spacecraft and their units have been delivered to the assembly and test workshop of the 32nd launch site, where they will be tested and prepared for launch," the press-service said.
In addition to the aforementioned spacecraft the carrier rocket will also launch into space a unit of foreign spacecraft, including NIGERIASAT-1, BILSAT-1, UK-DMC, and KAISTSAT-4 micro- satellites, which have been delivered to the space center before, the press-service said.
The Mozhaets-4 satellite is designed to refine the procedure of precise laser-assisted ground geodesic measurements with the help of onboard optical angle reflectors, as well as to study the influence of space environment on onboard electronics, and to discharge other tasks.
For instance, this satellite is designed for education of cadets of the Academy named after Mozhaysky, as well as those of other Space Forces colleges within the framework of the inter- college new technologies development program, based on the development of small- and super-small-size spacecraft. At the present time the first Mozhaets satellite, launched from Plesetsk in November 2002, is operating in the orbit, the press-service said.
The Larets satellite is fitted with laser retroreflectors and is designed to adjust ground radars with the help of laser measurements by reflecting emission of ground-based laser range finders, aimed at measuring the range to the satellite's center of gravity.
