MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Interior Ministry Forces guards and details have apprehended 466 people for trying to infiltrate security perimeters of state sites since the beginning of the year, the forces' press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
"In 2003 guards and details have apprehended in excess of 24,000 trespassers, including 466 people for an attempt at breaching the security perimeter," a press-service official said.
According to him, in 2003 given the threat of terrorist attacks, the Interior Ministry Forces have denied unauthorized access to state sites and special cargo under their protection.
According to the press-service, the Interior Ministry Forces play the ever increasing role in enforcing public order and security in contemporary environment.
"The Interior Ministry Forces discharge their duties in 61 towns in 41 regions of the Russian Federation. Interior Ministry Forces details have arrested in excess of 460,000 citizens for various offenses, including 2,666 people on suspicion of committing a crime," the press-service official said.
