KOVROV, Vladimir Region. Sept 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The Degtyarev plant will take part in an international arms show in Turkey for the first time this year, spokesman for the plant administration Sergei Shvarev said on Wednesday.
"An entire spectrum of the plant's defense-related products will be exhibited at the show," Shvarev told Interfax-Military News Agency.
According to him, the plant's section at the show will feature the Kord machine gun that is adapted for NATO standard cartridges, and the AGS-30 antipersonnel automatic grenade launcher.
"Unfortunately, the show's organizers categorically rejected the idea of demonstrative firing, and the enterprise will not be able to demonstrate its products in action," Shvarev said.
The plant's marketing activity is aimed at expanding the markets for its products that surpass foreign analogues in many parameters, the spokesman went on. In particular, the Kord machine gun, the Kornet long-range antitank system, and the DP-65 grenade launcher designed by the Degtyarev plant always attract attention at arms shows.
The IDEF 2003 international exhibition of defense, aerospace and naval hardware will take place in the Turkish capital city of Ankara from September 30 to October 3. It is among the world's ten largest arms shows. The event takes place every two years under the auspices of the Turkish National Defense Ministry with the help of the Turkish fund for armed forces support and development. This year the show will be held for the sixth time. Its peculiarity is that it features only tested or upgraded products. The event is aimed at attracting potential customers, primarily from the Middle East.
