MOSCOW. Sept 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Energy cooperation between Moscow and Washington is important for solving the problem of nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.
"I believe your assistance will be useful for us to solve all problems that are of primary importance for the entire international community today - I mean the problem of nonproliferation. This problem, in my view, is among the most pressing for humankind in the 21st century," Putin said while meeting with the co-chairmen of the Russian-U.S. business energy summit in Moscow on Sunday.
"The problem of nonproliferation is one of issues on which we (Russia and the U.S. - Interfax) have become not merely partners, but strategic partners and allies," Putin said.
