MOSCOW. Sept 23 (Interfax-AVN) - A training session of combat training chiefs started at the Leningrad military district's training center on Tuesday, Major General Yuri Karasev, deputy head of the Armed Forces combat training directorate, told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"The three-day training session involves combat training chiefs Russian military branches, chiefs of combat training departments in military districts and joint-arms armies, deputy commanders of permanent-readiness divisions, and chiefs of joint- arms training grounds and training centers of the Land Forces," Karasev said.
The main goal of the training session is to test in practice the methods of arranging and conducting exercises on the tactical level, he stressed.
"The training session at facilities of the Leningrad military district's training center will include a series of demonstrative exercises in tactical live firing and driving of tanks, APCs and IFVs. Some exercises will be devoted to the tactics of mobile teams in emergency conditions taking into account the experience obtained during the anti-guerilla operation in the North Caucasus," the general said.
According to him, the district's 138th detached motorized rifle brigade will perform a practical exercise during the training session.
Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Anatoly Kvashnin is expected to arrive at the training session on its final day to sum up its results.
