ST.PETERSBURG. Sept 24 (Interfax-AVN) - A delegation of the Leningrad military district's 138th detached motorized rifle division has started a visit to the Karjala infantry brigade of the Finnish Armed Forces.
"During the four-day working trip, motorized riflemen of the Leningrad military district will share experience with their Finnish colleagues and study peculiarities of service in the Finnish Armed Forces," Colonel Yuri Klenov, chief of the district press service and aide to the district commander for public relations, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.
It is the first visit of officers from the Kamenka garrison, where the 138th brigade is stationed, to the Karjala brigade. The delegation is comprised of five officers and led by brigade commander Colonel Andrei Serdyukov.
Finnish servicemen are expected to make a return visit next year, Klenov said.
The Leningrad military district plays "an important role in the development of regional military cooperation, including on the regional level," he stressed.
"Foreign military delegations of various levels regularly come to the district and St. Petersburg. For instance, a delegation of German military doctors is coming to the northern capital (St. Petersburg - Interfax-AVN) this week. It will work in the Military Medical Academy for a week," Klenov noted.
