Major terrorist act prevented in Dagestan

MOSCOW. Sept. 25 (Interfax-AVN) - A powerful anti-tank mine planted under a railway track in Buinaksk, Dagestan, was rendered harmless Thursday morning.

The local police station got information about the explosive device at 8:20 a.m. Moscow time (0420 GMT), the station told Interfax.

Policemen and sappers of the 136th brigade of the Defense Ministry, stationed in Buinaksk, got to the scene and defused the device. The device turned out to be an anti-tank mine, which was stowed under the railway line that connects Buinaksk to the main North Caucasus rail line.

This rail line is the artery that carries products to the city and military equipment to the 136th brigade.
