VILNIUS. Sept 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Expert groups from Russia and Lithuania have begun consultations at the Lithuanian Transport Ministry to discuss the transit of rocket fuel components from the Kaliningrad region, the ministry press service told Interfax on Thursday.
Lithuanian delegation chief and Deputy Transport Minister Valerijus Ponomariovas told Interfax that they will coordinate the technical and financial details of the withdrawal of about 1,200 tonnes of expired rocket fuel components.
"We need to agree on trains to carry away this dangerous cargo, security, fire and emergency precautions, other technical details, the type and size of compensation in case of accidents and force majeure, insurance, and financial issues," he said.
If an agreement is reached, withdrawal of the rocket fuel components may start this year, Ponomariovas said.
