TULA. Sept 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Three new combat assets designed by the Tula-based Strela R&D Institute for the Russian Land Forces are taking state tests, Strela Director General Nikolai Zaitsev said on Thursday.
"Three of our products are taking state tests simultaneously. Two of them have passed the peak of tests and distinguished themselves in military exercises. Field tests of an absolutely unique product - the Zoopark system intended for reconnoitering the enemy's firing positions - took place just a few days ago," Zaitsev told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"Our product was working alongside with field tests where a division was 'at war.' Not a single shot was missed, all positions of the 'enemy' were exposed with required accuracy," Zaitsev said.
"This is a great success of our company, because such products used to have some faults before, Now we have solved all problems. At the same time, the system's main specifications such as range, throughput and view got 50 percent higher," he stressed.
Strela specializes in making intelligence radars, such as the upgraded Zoopark-1 system intended for detecting firing positions of artillery and missiles through registering their shots or launches, the Kredo-1S mobile radar intended for exposing moving ground targets, and the Skrytnost universal phased array radar for detecting mortar firing positions and moving ground targets.
All processes in the systems are automated, which ensures quick data traffic and short reaction time of the firing system. The radars incorporate up-to-date survey and orientation systems, including satellite navigation, radio and telephone communication assets. The systems are fitted with data transmission systems protected from jamming and linked with upgraded combat control assets of tube and rocket artillery and a new artillery reconnaissance control point.
