Chechen PM taken to Moscow clinic

GROZNY. Sept 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Chechen Prime Minister Anatoly Popov was flown to Moscow in the early hours of Monday, his aide Alexander Andronov told Interfax.

The plane carrying Popov landed at about 12:30 a.m. Moscow time on Monday (2030 GMT) and the official was immediately taken to the Burdenko military hospital.

Doctors describe his current state as grave but stable, the aide said.

Late on September 27 Popov was hospitalized with acute food poisoning. He felt sick after a lunch in Gudermes district where he had attended the opening of a local gas pipeline.

Andronov said that a team of doctors who flew from Rostov-on- Don to examine Popov diagnosed that he had hypothropic poisoning and made the final decision to transport him to Moscow.
