Fight with rebel group underway in Ingushetia

NAZRAN. Sept 29 (Interfax-South) - Police have encircled a group of ten to twelve rebels hiding in a dairy farm near the Ingush town of Karabulak, a law enforcement source told Interfax on Monday.

A fight between the rebels and policemen has been in progress since 10:30 a.m. Moscow time (0630 GMT).

The source noted that three police officers have been injured. There has been no word on rebel casualties yet.

The gunmen were spotted on a farm near a refugee settlement at 9:00 a.m. Moscow time (0500 GMT) on Monday. Ingush police tried to encircle the farm, and the rebels opened fire.

Mobile units of Russia's Interior Ministry Force have been sent to the scene.
