Russian Land Forces command rehearsing actions in putting forces on combat readiness

MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Land Forces command is rehearsing actions of control bodies in putting troops on various degrees of combat readiness, Colonel Yakov Firsov, chief of the Land Forces press service, told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"During the mobilization command post exercise (CPEX) that started at the Land Forces Staff on Monday, all directorates and services are rehearsing actions in putting troops on various degrees of combat readiness. In addition, participants in the exercise are specifying the regulatory documents, under which forces are to act in an emergency period," Firsov said.

The CPEX is supervised by Land Forces Chief-of-Staff Colonel General Alexander Morozov. It will last for three days.

"Military units are not involved in the training," Firsov said.

He stressed that the Land Forces command is planning to hold a series of large-scale mobilization exercises in various military districts in the next academic year. The exercises will involve officials of regional administrations and military commissioner's offices and a large number of reservists.

"The new defense budget will provide opportunity for doing this important work, for it reserves funds for mobilization and paramilitary training at a larger-than-required scale," Firsov said.
