Chinese, German border guards study border service arrangement in northwestern European Russia

ST.PETERSBURG. Oct 3 (Interfax-AVN) - High-ranking officials of Chinese and German border guard departments have studied forms and conditions of work of the Russian Federal Security Service's Northwestern regional border guard directorate, a source in the directorate headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.

"A delegation of the Chinese Public Security Ministry's border guard service led by its chief met with chief of the Northwestern regional border guard directorate Lieutenant General Loginov," the source said.

The Chinese border guards visited the Vyborg border detachment's picket named after Hero of the USSR Garkavy and the Brusnichnoye checkpoint where they were briefed on border service arrangement on the land border, the source noted.

At the same time, a delegation of the German Federal Border Police led by deputy chief of the naval department Frommholz visited St. Petersburg. The delegation was escorted by Real Admiral Ilyashenko, deputy head of the Northwestern directorate and head of its naval guard department.

"During the visit, the delegation studied activity of the National Border Guard Coordination Center and made a trip to the Neva 2003 shipbuilding exhibition where future development spheres of naval forces of both the regional directorate and the Russian border guard service in general were represented. Border guards shared experience in arranging border service with German colleagues in, among other planes, the Primorsk port," the source said.
