Georgia praises expansion of teamwork with NATO

TBILISI. Oct 3 (Interfax-AVN) - The Georgian administration praises positive dynamics of cooperation development with NATO in the framework of the Partnership for Peace (PfP) program.

"Dynamics of Georgian-NATO cooperation development has a positive tendency, as we took part in 86 events in the framework of the NATO Partnership for Peace program in the nine months of this year," Vice Colonel Irakly Batkuashvili, chief of the PfP coordination headquarters in the Georgian General Staff, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.

"At the same time, Georgia did not take part in 51 planned events, including in 15 due to financial problems. The rest were postponed or cancelled," he said.

"Georgia is planning to take part in another 15 events in the framework of the program in the fourth quarter of the year," Batkuashvili noted.

According to him, Georgia participated in 73 out of 107 planned events in the framework of the PfP program in 2002.

"Cooperation dynamics is growing, and this is logical given that Georgia announced its intention to join the North Atlantic alliance at last year's NATO summit in Prague," Batkuashvili said.
