LANGKAWI, Malaysia. Oct 3 (Interfax-AVN) - Developers of MIG- 29 Fulcrum fighter varieties intended for export supplies have to take all customers' requests into account, including pilots' religious sentiments, Andrei Karasyov, deputy constructor general of the MIG aircraft corporation, said on Friday.
"While developing varieties of the MIG-29 fighter that are exported to several Southeastern Asian and Asia-Pacific nations, we take all customers' requests into account, including religious sentiments of the pilots who will fly the planes," Karasyov told a news conference at the LIMA 2003 international air show that is underway at the Malaysian island of Langkawi.
For instance, alcohol-containing liquids will not be used in AC systems of the MIG-29 planes supplied to Malaysia, he said.
Taking a question from Interfax-Military News Agency, Karasyov said that all alcohol-containing liquids used in the plane will be replaced with new ones that do not contain ethanol.
"The engineering center has worked on this issue and will use the results of the work in upgrading the planes that have been exported to Malaysia and other countries," he said.
According to Karasyov, MIG-29 fighters are currently in the inventory of 29 countries.
