MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Economically, it will be very difficult to build qualitatively new Armed Forces, Andrei Kokoshin, chairman of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs and Ties with Compatriots, told reporters in Moscow on Monday.
"It will be hard to find the optimum point between the military requirements and economic capabilities of the state in the light of the tasks Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov reported to the president when speaking on the development of a qualitatively new armed force," Kokoshin said.
He emphasized that "the new vision of the defense spending structure is already being implemented: the funding of combat training, armament, and of other items crucial for the Armed Forces are increasing."
Due to that, he said, most of the tasks set in the report will hopefully be economically backed.
At the same time, Vitaly Shlykov, aide to the CEO of the Obyedinennye Mashinostroitelnye Zavody Corporation, also present at the news conference, said that "some of the tasks set in the report are unlikely to be realized with the current allocations."
He said that real defense requirements and capabilities would emerge when the state takes on targeted planning of defense spending.
