SUKHUMI. Oct 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Delegations from Tbilisi and Sukhumi are to visit the Balkans for studying the experience of law-enforcement agencies' operation in conflict areas in October.
"The delegations are to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Kosovo, where they will familiarize themselves with operational experience of law-enforcement agencies in conflict areas and training in police academies," Sergei Shamba, Foreign Minister of the unrecognized republic of Abkhazia, told Interfax- Military News Agency on Wednesday.
The visit, slated for October 12-18, will be carried out under the UN auspices, he said.
"After that 20 international police instructors are to arrive in the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict area to assist Georgian and Abkhaz policemen, deployed in the Zugdidi and Gali districts adjacent to the conflict area, in improving their skills," Shamba said.
This mission will also be conducted under the UN auspices, he said.
