KYIV. Oct 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Former Ukrainian Navy commander Mykhaylo Yezhel has been dismissed from military service for health reasons.
The relevant decree posted on the official website of the Ukrainian parliament was signed by Ukrainian president Kuchma on Monday.
In late April Kuchma criticized the situation in Crimea- based military units to relieve Yezhel from his post. Kuchma also initiated a top-level check of the use of state money, materiel, and real estate run by the Crimea-based Navy units.
In May the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office brought criminal action against Yezhel for negligence and abuse of power.
Yezhel, 51, commanded the Navy in 1996-2003.
