ST.PETERSBURG. Oct 20 (Interfax-AVN) - While visiting St. Petersburg, a delegation of the Indian Air Force led by Air Chief Marshal Srinivasapuram Krishnaswamy, Chief of Air Staff, discussed cooperation prospects with the management of the Aerokosmicheskoye Oborudovaniye corporation, the press service of the company said on Monday.
Aerokosmicheskoye Oborudovaniye is the chief executor of the contract for SU-30MKI multifunctional fighter supplies to India as far as on-board equipment is concerned, the press service said.
"Participants in the talks updated the order of the parties' interaction in implementing current contracts for the SU-30MKI supplies and licensed production in India and discussed promising spheres of cooperation between the Aerokosmicheskoye Oborudovaniye corporation and Indian aircraft makers," the press service said.
The corporation and India's Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) signed a cooperation agreement on June 6 this year. Also that month, the Russian committee for military-technical cooperation with foreign countries granted the corporation the right to conduct independent foreign economic activity as far as supplies of spare parts, components, training and auxiliary equipment for military hardware and servicing of earlier exported military hardware are concerned. "This opens new opportunities for the Aerokosmicheskoye Oborudovaniye corporation in supplying and servicing of Russian hardware in India and other Asian countries," the press service said.
The Indian military delegation is visiting Russia as the Irkut corporation has completed a stage of work in the framework of the contract for SU-30MKI supplies.
