GROZNY. Nov 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Two terrorist attacks were prevented in Chechnya on Wednesday, the regional headquarters managing the anti-guerilla operation in the North Caucasus reported.
A resident of Grozny's Zavodskoi district contacted the police on Wednesday and said that he had noticed three people that were doing something suspicious on a roadside close to his house early in the morning. Sappers arrived at the scene and found a homemade explosive device made of a 120-mm mortar shell and a VOG-25 underbarrel grenade launcher.
The device was dismantled and handed over to investigation authorities, the headquarters said in a press released.
Another homemade explosive device was found and destroyed by federals on an engineer reconnaissance mission in the Vedeno village. The radio-controlled device was planted two meters from the roadbed on Lenin Street.
The search for the people involved in planting the landmines is underway.
