MOSCOW. Nov 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Tehran is planning to start talks with Moscow in the near future on the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant's second power generating unit.
"We will hold talks with Russia in the near future to build the second power generating unit at the Bushehr nuclear power plant," Hasan Ruhani, secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, said after a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov on Monday.
Ruhani said that during the Moscow talks, Russian officials assured him that the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant's first power generating unit will be completed in the near future.
The Iranian official said that his country and Russia currently "have a better atmosphere for advancing cooperation than ever before."
Ruhani said that later on Monday, Iranian representatives will hand over a letter at the Vienna-based headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) containing Iran's consent to sign the additional protocol to the IAEA's safeguards agreement.
He said that "although Iran's activities related to its peaceful nuclear program, including the enrichment of uranium for peaceful purposes, is its legitimate right, Tehran has agreed to suspend its uranium-enrichment process for some time in an effort
"Iran has now met all its obligations to the IAEA. Now, the IAEA and its Board of Governors have to take the next step to respond to Iran's benevolence," Ruhani said.
