YEREVAN. Nov 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said it is up to Armenia and Azerbaijan themselves to settle the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
"If someone thinks that Russia will be imposing its opinion on this issue, they are absolutely wrong. We are not going to replay the mistakes of the former USSR," Ivanov told journalists in Yerevan on Tuesday.
"Ways to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are quite vague," Ivanov said. The conflict "could be settled through a compromise between Yerevan and Baku, and Moscow is ready to take part in this process with its authority," he said.
In response to a question, Ivanov said Russia has no plans to expand its military presence in Armenia.
