Combat engineers dispose of two explosive charges in Chechnya

GROZNY. Nov 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Local residents helped prevent terrorist attacks in Grozny and the village of Assinovskaya in Chechnya's Sunzhenskaya district, a source in the Regional Headquarters of the Anti-guerilla Operation in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.

"Two locals, who had noticed a suspicious object in one of the streets, turned to law-enforcement agencies of Grozny's Zavodskoi district. Combat engineers detected and neutralized the MON-50 anti-personnel high-explosive shaped-charge mine at the place specified," he said.

Another explosive charge, placed by terrorists in a street of the Assinovskaya village, was reported by a truck driver. "The explosive charge, comprising a three-liter can, stuffed with TNT, was fitted with a special remote control detonator," the source said.

He noted that law-enforcement officials had managed to narrow down the number of people, who may be involved in preparing these terrorist attacks. They are currently been searched for.
