KYIV. Dec 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Lieutenant General Valeriy Fyodorov has been appointed first deputy commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Land Forces, the press service of the Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
Frolov was born in the town of Tyvrov in the Vinnytsya region in 1949, the press service told Interfax-Military News Agency. He graduated from the Kazan Higher Tank Command College in 1970 and the Armored Forces Academy in 1978. He served in the Southern Military Force in Hungary, the Transcaucasian military district, and in military commissioner's offices of Armenia and Ukraine. He was appointed chief-of-staff and first deputy commander of the Ukrainian army's 32nd army corps in 1995 and was promoted to corps commander in 1998.
Prior to his current appointment, Frolov was first deputy commander of the Western operational command.
