Russian Navy consists of over 300 warships - Navy chief-of-staff

MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Navy comprises over 300 warships, including submarines, Admiral Viktor Kravchenko, Navy chief-of-staff, said on Monday.

"The Russian Navy currently comprises over 300 warships, including missile boats and submarines. Russia's submarine fleet consists of over 30 items, including strategic and multipurpose submarines, as well as diesel-powered ones," Kravchenko told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The figure includes first-, second-, and third-rank ships, he stressed.

In addition, the Russian Navy includes the auxiliary fleet, i.e. tugs, tankers, hydrographic vessels, scouting and other vessels.

"The Navy's aviation consists of 400 planes and helicopters," Kravchenko said.
