Three rebels detained in Chechnya

GROZNY. Jan 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Law-enforcement agencies detained three suspected rebels in Chechnya on Monday, the Interior Ministry's provisional press center in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"Chechen law-enforcement agencies detained three people suspected of criminal activity as members of illegal armed formations on Monday. In particular, the police and the Chechen department of the Federal Security Service detained a local resident in the Dyshne-Vedeno village. The person was wanted for participation in Shamil Basayev's raid on Budyonnovsk in 1995," a press center official said.

"According to police information, the detainee continued to accomplish surviving warlords' missions, being an active member of the bandit underground," he said.

Policemen and sappers found five arms and ammo caches on Monday, seizing from them an assault rifle, 1kg of TNT and various munitions, the official noted.
