Russia sends more humanitarian aid to Iran

MOSCOW. Jan 6 (Interfax-AVN) - An IL-76 aircraft of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry carrying humanitarian aid has left for the Iranian city of Shiraz.

An Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman said that 34 tonnes of humanitarian supplies will be delivered to Iran, including tents, heating devices, and 14.5 tonnes of medicines.

The ministry sent its first planeload of humanitarian aid to Iran in late December. The cargo included tents, blankets, warm clothes, generators, and water-purification equipment.

A powerful earthquake hit the town of Bam in southeastern Iran on December 26. The death toll is estimated at 40,000.
