Russia warns Georgia against encroachments on its military bases

MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has warned Georgia that provocation acts against Russian military bases and citizens in Georgia could have potentially disastrous outcomes.

This message was passed to Georgian Ambassador to Russia Zurab Abashidze in the wake of recent anti-Russian statements made by leader of the Georgian Popular Front Nodar Natadze, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement circulated on Tuesday.

"The Georgian authorities must understand that any provocation acts against the Russian military bases and citizens in Georgia may result in far-reaching consequences. Such statements are absolutely inadmissible and will damage relations between the two neighboring states," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Natadze told a news conference in Tbilisi on Monday that subversive acts may be carried out against Russian military bases in Georgia.
