MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax-AVN) - President Vladimir Putin has noted the importance of the government's decision to put the Federal Security Service in charge of border protection.
"This transference is not an accident. Border protection now requires special attention," Putin said at a Federal Security Service meeting on Thursday.
Putin cited the development of the border infrastructure as one of "many unsolved problems in this area."
Putin expressed hope that "the Border Guard Service's new administration will fulfill the approved border protection plan."
"It will force the state to make considerable financial investments. It's a lot of money for the country. The state has found it and I am hoping it will be spent rationally and will benefit the state," the president said.
